Dear Legislator
This letter is to voice my support for S818 / A2095, the Emergency Medical Services redesign bills. As you might know, the Department of Health and Senior Services commissioned a study in 2007 that revealed serious deficiencies in the New Jersey emergency medical services system. The provision of ambulance and paramedic services was found to be in a crisis situation because of the way it is delivered, funded, and regulated. A industry-based redesign committee worked tirelessly to come up with recommendations for change, and a consensus document was presented to the Office of Legislative Services over a year ago.
S818 / A2095 are the changes reflected in that consensus document. It contains critical changes to the regulatory and funding mechanisms necessary to insure that NJ's EMS system can become a vibrant and modern health delivery system. As an EMS worker, I support these changes and urge you to support the bill in your house of legislature. These bills are important to me, and their outcome is likely to influence my vote in the next election. Please help us reform our the infrastructure that enables us to provide emergency care to NJ's sick and injured when they need us most.
For more information on how this bill affects NJ EMS, please feel free to contact the NJ Emergency Medical Services Educator's Association at president@njemsea.org or visit their website at http://www.NJEMSEA.org .
Thank you for your time in this matter.
Sincerely,
